12th August 2019...there are times when it is right to share with someone 'somewhere' you think of as special. So this week I took a work colleague who had become a good friend to Bertaux.  It was late afternoon as we arrived, took our seats and breathed out.  4 pots of tea, two scones and conversation moved time into early evening. Beyond the window the rhythm of the West End subtly shifted.  Inside, our friendship which had developed swiftly, borne of an inherent understanding of the good, the bad, the fab and the downright crap, that life can throw at you, was about to enter a new phase.  Later that week my new friend would depart from a year working in London, returning to her home beyond the Lake District, and to a different pace of life.  But during that time in Bertaux, not only was the tea and conversation fabulous, but an unexpected encounter with a fellow tea drinker, reconnected her with her early dancing days and Dougie Squires!!!!  That's Bertaux.
