with tea comes hope...(Lockdown 2)

The Covid 19 tea and postcard project today transitions to 'with tea comes hope.' Both projects involve drinking tea and the act of writing. The first was more outwardly focused.  The second will involve a journal, and thus be more inwardly reflective. Each post, in its own small way, acts as a reminder of a moment, someone, a thought, a happening, an event...
I wonder what the trees will tell people in 1000 years time

 why I should have hope...
having hope is thinking of the future, something that hasn't yet happened but the idea that it will... hope will bring new opportunities, plans, lists... hope is wanting something good for yourself or others, it's a positive wish, a sign you care... I realise that a few weeks ago, when the weather was warmer and the evenings were longer, the sunsets were lovely and promised me warmth and a new day with hope and anticipation that the hours stretching ahead would bring good news and connections or reconnections with people.
These sunsets made me positive and want to greet the following day; they made my anxiety soften.
There have of course been many items on the news when I have seen the positive outcomes of peoples' actions that have given me hope for the human race.  So I realise that this is divided somehow between the personal and the universal... but the sunset is good for both!

You have time and a beautiful space to drink and enjoy tea and contemplate / reflect / day dream...and in these moments you can find strength to harness hope and hopeful ideas. Even if at times we feel hopeless, when we overcome that downward spiral its hope that lifts us out of it.

25th September 2020

For the last few weeks I have had to stop drinking tea and change to drinking hot water.  When this happens I understand the message of my body; an instruction to cleanse, or heal.  Over the last 6 months I have made and drunk more pots of tea per day than I can recall at any other point in my life.  The act of making and drinking tea a comfort, pulling me away from the screen and accompanying me through long, uncertain, demanding, emotional, sunny, rewarding, desolate, reflective, fulfilling, isolated, playful, imaginative days filled with work, study and a very different rhythm of connecting with the world.   The act of preparing hot water to drink lacks the choreography of all that making tea contains.  Subsequently the act of drinking the hot water feels somewhat empty.  This weekend I must source and plant fresh mint - this to continue the healing whilst reconnecting with the process of tea making... then I will be able to write and send cards again.
