My name is Elle Evans and I am the great grand-daughter of high wire walker, clown and theatre manager Jack Riskit.

I am not someone funny by nature, and until recently considered I had little in common with a man who performed daring stunts in the sky.  However, following my own recent walk of life, I began to think about risk.

For Jack, risk was explicit.  Situated high above the ground, located discernibly between one fixed point and another, his pathway was dangerous, but clearly defined.

For myself; arrival at the Old Coach House where I live with two cats Caspian and Gypsy, risk was perhaps inherently more dangerous. Whilst I was safely grounded, this oasis was the only fixed point in a turning world.  Here I realised I had been taking risks all my life!  Here I was rescued, lost and found.

A favourite pastime is to wake early, make tea which I take back to bed, from where I  write.  This time is one of luxury, and has become an essential ingredient to my week.  In the immediacy of tea drinking and writing, accompanied by the determined and persistent song of the Robin in the tree beyond the window, flow happens.  From that flow, one morning some time ago, the Tea Talk Diaries concept emerged . . .
